Osterly Art in the Park

A community fun day local to us organised with the national trust and various community groups. Local Artists also come to display their art work and sell it if people are interested. This year both my parents displayed some with their "Art for All" group and mum also on her own.

blah blah blah!

Holiday...

We went to Borth, Near Aberystwyth (Sian and Beth both say "Aserwifwif" LOL) which was gloriously hilly! In fact, here are some pics of the hill our holiday apartment was at the top of, and the view from said hill. The teamstars have nick named it "Cardiac Hill" rather than it's real name of Coed-y-Bryn LOL.

half way up looking to the apartment

same as before but zoomed into front door

view across cardigan bay

other direction

bottom of Coed-y-Bryn, it goes round a bend so you can't get the whole picture. It's STEEP!

BABY

Not much to report on the baby front. I've lost my 15wk scan pics (that's why they're not up yet) and have my 23wk scan on Tues- oh and NO, we're NOT finding out! I've been feeling the little beggar here and there though- nothing you can feel from the outside yet, and waaay too low for little hands to be feeling!

HOUSE

The lease is up in something like 23 days. So, after next week when all my commitments are finished, my poor kids are going to be stuck indoors packing boxes and sorting through toys and clothes to see what to keep, save and sell (we're gonna have a garden sale) I have every intention on the morning of 21 July phoning our housing officer and putting the ball right back in their court. I sooo won't be sorry to leave the shower that works patchily (my hair rarely gets washed properly atm as i hate being scalded then frozen in less than 30secs), the spiders in teh kitchen (only place they seem to stay in spite of the cobwebs every where) and the over grown back garden that we can;t put a washing line in. I WILL miss our front garden- except for the fact that BOTH girls can climb over the wall to the pavement by the road so I can't leave them to play out tehre while i work indoors any more.

THIS

is what we need with the arrival of #3 and a car that won't fit 3 car seats. As a bonus, I can keep the girls harnessed LONGER WOOHOO!

multimac

trouble is it's not in circulation yet. i've put down our name for when it IS but till then, i guess we're looking at a new car and at least one new car seat.

Peppa Pig

Peppa at Feltham Library

Sian and Beth (and the rest of Felthams younger population!) with Peppa for a press photo

Peppa leaning against the desk. Clive and I think she didn't want to be there!

So, as you can see, Sian and Beth got to meet Peppa Pig this week. And they're squealing as I write this post LOL. There were lots of excited U5s at Feltham Library for storytime with her, and her assistant read two stories to the masses. It was hard to get photos though as it was poorly organised. I still had two little girls leave wiht BIG smiles though!

housing update.

we had an appointment wiht the direct lettings officer last week. clive was working so it was just me and the girls. i felt like crap and she was running late. and the kids were hungry (i swear they just EAT!)

our lease here is up on July 20th, although we won't have to move out that day if there is nowhere to go. our options are this. all include us keeping our place and priority date on the locata list

option #1 (we don't think so, this house is too small for the 2 kids we have) stay here but pay rent direct to the landlord. and if you've been keeping up with the blog. things keep going wrong!

option #2 let the council move us as many times as needed untill we're offered a permanent place through locata. this could well be another 3-4yrs. it's taking SIX years to house people as the council didn't rebuild after the right to buy scheme in the 1980's (i was still at primary school then!)

option #3 find our own property and keep bidding. this would be fine IF we could go from a 2 bed to a 3 bed before "orlando" arrives. but they will only cover the cost of a 2 bed property till "orlando" is here (and probably a year old) UNLESS we can find a 3 bed property that costs the same as a 2 bed to rent, i've seen ONE.

we're decided to go with #2, even though it means we could potentially be moved every year (unlikely, we've been here almost 3yrs now) but we see no point direct letting a 2bed property when we know that we'll need 3 beds within the next 9mos.

stay rear facing

http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger/4798/734/1600/674373/RF%20at%203.jpg

above is a link to sian HAPPILY rear facing at 3yo (much longer than the average child in teh UK) she outgrew the seat RF by height soon after this was taken. below is a link to a petition for car seat manufacturers to make car seats that can RF till a child is 4. statistically it is safer. if you know me at all, you know i'm passionate about car seats and car seat safety. and would love to keep my kids harnessed/rf much longer than i currently can.

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Carseats-stage1/

Independent research has shown, and child safety experts agree, that rear facing stage 1 car seats are five times safer for the child in an accident. Despite this, these car seats are not available on the UK market and UK parents are not informed of their existence. We demand that all parents get information about and access to these seats and that guidelines from the government actively promote rearfacing stage 1 car seats for all children 9 months to 4 years old via all available governmental channels, retailers, manufacturers, child and safety organisations, health clinics, health visitors, road safety officers, child carers etc. for better protection of young children in traffic. Our goal is that no child should get injured or killed in traffic accidents in the UK due to unsafe car seats!

win a carrier

Win a Free Ergo Baby Carrier from Along for the Ride

i'm a little on the crunchy side and often carry my kids in slings (last count i had 1 padded ring sling, 2 un- padded ring slings, 2 mei teis and a pouch) and even though i don't seem to be able to enter this competition, someone else might win it from the link!

cloth nappies

i found a box full of assorted cloth nappies and wraps today. trouble is there are about 8 wool wraps and i'm allergic to wool. i've manage to get teh OTHER 20 items out the box and into the washer so i can actually *touch* them without itching! there were 9 nursing tops as well so it's a good job it's a cheap listing day on ebay... the camera is going to be busy busy busy later on!
